Please reach us at homies@homiesmentorship.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.
You can contact the organization by email or through the application that will be linked to this website. Based on the responses from the application, we will find the most appropriate and individualized mentor and mentee partnerships for your child/the student. Students and parents will also have to sign a waiver that relays the program expectations of the students and the mentors.
H.O.M.I.E.S mentors must be high school seniors and beyond, majoring in STEM courses, with the desire to provide academic resources and advocacy for the Black youth. Prospective mentors will apply for a role and fill out a survey to provide additional information about their cultural backgrounds and interests. This will be followed by an interview process with one of our team members. Based on the success of the onboarding process we will create an individualized mentee pairing for the mentor who will begin creating a fruitful relationship that aligns with our mission statement. Mentors will also fill out a waiver that provides program responsibilities as a statement of accountability to the organization.
The simple answer is YES. We want to create individualized and cultured mentor and mentee relationships. In our first year, we found this system to be successful based on the responses from our mentors and mentees. We will continue to utilize this method of creating partnerships between our mentors and mentees.
If a school or school district would like to partner their students with H.O.M.I.E.S Inc., they are welcome to reach out to us using the below contact form or by emailing us at homies@homiesmentorship.org.
